I absolutely love golf. I have found golf to be the only sport where I can fully engage in a three level challenge: competing against other players, competing against nature, and most importantly competing against myself. In my opinion, the mental aspect of the game is what sets it apart from all the other sports. Facing this challenge in tournament golf and in pleasure golf, is the most difficult yet satisfying and interesting part of the game (in a good and, unfortunately, sometimes in a bad way too).
Although I started playing the game later than most of my statewide competitors, I am one of those ‘getting better everyday’ golfers and my passion for golf that started from introductory lessons with the First Tee is exponentially growing every-day. Over the last year, my drive and dedication to the sport have been heightened and fine tuned under the guidance and coaching of Ed Ibarguen, PGA Director of golf at Duke University. It seems to have a positive effect as only a junior, I was selected to be a team captain and received TISAC Conference Player of the Year Award and NCISAA All-State Team Winner.
I am extremely interested in playing collegiate golf so that I can carry on my love for golf at a higher level. To play collegiate golf at a prestigious university that values both academics and athletics would fulfill my ideal vision as I take on this new stage of my life.
